The article below describes the basic requirements of a service on the S2.
The car in question was at 85000 miles, although a full service was being
carried out.

The parts required depend on the type of service being performed.


A typical list of parts are as follows
Oil (4.5 litres required)
Filter
Sump plug gasket
Spark plugs (every 40k miles)
Air filter (every 40k miles)
Pollen filter
Hydraulic Oil (top up only)
Antifreeze (G12+) (top up only)

In addition the following work may be required:

Brake fluid change (every two years)
Timing belt change +water pump + idler roller + crank bolt (every 80k miles)

Check operation of all lights (interior and exterior)
Windscreen / headlamp washers.. Check operation.
Windscreen / tailgate wiper(s). Check park position and condition
Check for ECU fault codes and record info.
Door arresters , lock cylinders, door lock - lubricate.
Sunroof - check operation and use silicone lubricant on sliders
Battery - check electrolyte and top up if necessary
Engine bay from above. Visual inspection for leaks / damage
Cooling system - check antifreeze and top up if necessary
Air filter - clean housing and renew filter (if necessary)
Spark plugs - renew (if necessary)
Hydraulics - Check for leaks and top up if necessary
. Dust & pollen filter - renew
Ribbed belt - check for damage (up to MY 94)
Engine from below - check for leaks / damage
Gearbox, final drive, steering and joint boots. Visual check for leaks / damage
Manual gearbox / final drive. Check oil level and top up if necessary
Engine oil: Drain and change oil filter
Brake system: visual check for leaks / damage
Brake pads : check thickness
Underseal : visual check for damage
Exhaust: visual inspection for leaks, damage and mounting
Track rod ends: Check play, attachment and protective boots
Ball joints: Check protective boots for damage
Tyres (including spare): Check condition and wear pattern
Tyres (including spare): Check and record tread depth
Tyres (including spare): Check inflation pressure (36psi)
Top up engine oil to correct level
Brake fluid level : check
Road test
